America’s Test Kitchen on Holland America Ships

I watch and enjoy many cooking shows but truth be told I never even try to make 99% of the dishes that are featured! Too much time, too many ingredients, and a husband that is afraid to try anything new are just some of the obstacles I face.  Maybe that’s why I absolutely love America's Test Kitchen.  They focus on the real stuff…the recipes you make when you rush in the door at 6PM to face a hungry family! The show develops and perfects these recipes so they'll give you the best results every single time.

So when it was announced that Holland America Line would be transforming it’s shipboard Culinary Arts Center to replicate the television set where America’s Test Kitchen TV shows are recorded I was pretty excited! Designed specifically for Holland America Line, the shipboard shows will be hosted by Holland America Line chefs trained by America’s Test Kitchen culinary experts.

They are planning cooking demonstrations and hands-on workshops that will combine foolproof, accessible recipes and cooking techniques that are rooted in the rigorous testing and science-based approach of America’s Test Kitchen.

The planned 45-minute demo courses will feature a mix of video content, live instruction, taste tests and recipe samples. Some of the courses in development include Asian Dumplings, Salad for Two, We Love Chocolate, Everything Salmon, Getting to Know Chiles, Flavors of the Mediterranean, Meatless Monday Meals and New Italian Favorites. There will also be 90-minute workshops that focus on teaching a specific skill set such as Perfect Pies and Handmade Pasta.

America’s Test Kitchen demo courses and workshops will begin aboard the Westerdam October 18 for the ship’s Mexico season and on the Nieuw Amsterdam November 13 for the Caribbean season. The program is expected to roll out on all Holland America ships by June 2017.
