I never thought I would say that the availability of a well-equipped
fitness center has become a top criterion in selecting where I stay on
vacation. Throw in some classes and I’m in vacation heaven! Now with Celebrity Cruises and Canyon Ranch teaming
up to revamp the current onboard fitness programs I think it’s time for me to
book my next Celebrity cruise!
Celebrity Cruises is introducing twenty new fitness
classes and seminar experiences are being introduced. There are six class categories based on
different core needs and exercise groups: Sweat, Conditioning, Longevity,
Mindfulness, Nutrition, and Acupuncture. For example:
Sweat: Tabata Impact – Ah, Tabata…the current fitness rage! When
fitness enthusiasts talk about “Tabata training” they are referring to a type
of high intensity interval training. Workouts are generally short and intense.
Tabata offers the best of cardio and training techniques to provide a full-body
workout incorporating enhanced core-strength training exercise. A friend of
mine swears that one 30 minute Tabata class can burn away the calories of 3
dirty martinis!
Conditioning: Pilates to the Beat – This lively, Pilates
mat-inspired class is choreographed to upbeat pop songs. Can’t wait to try this
type of class. What I love about Pilates is that it is low impact and any age
and fitness level can do it. Mat Pilates is one of the best ways to stretch and
strengthen your body, primarily the muscles of the core.
Longevity: Age-Defying Technology – Learn about the latest technologies,
services and products that help with anti-aging. Hmmm…this could be dangerous
to my wallet! There’s nobody I would
trust more than Canyon Ranch to recommend the best new age-defying products to
try!
Mindfulness: Spiritual Cycling – These classes incorporate
mindfulness of form, awareness of energy, and presence of mind while cycling to
a playlist of music. As an avid spinner this intrigues I’m usually
breathing so hard I’m just concentrating on my next intake of oxygen!

spinning as spiritual.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture for Pain Relief – I know many
people who have turned to acupuncture to manage pain. Migraines, fibromyalgia,
anxiety, back pain… During these
seminars guests will learn from a licensed acupuncturist about the effects of
this healing practice.
Nutrition: Detox 101: Weight Loss and More – Gain knowledge
about the most effective detoxifying foods, and how they promote weight loss
and overall well-being. I left this for last because eating well is so
important, yet so challenging for many. Plus, I keep reading so much about
detox programs yet do nothing. This sounds like a program numerous people can
benefit from.
The program launches
in June on all Celebrity cruise ships. Seminars will be free, while some classes
will incur an extra fee, starting at $11.
