What’s Cookin’ in Carnival’s Kitchen?

Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans to debut a new hands-on culinary experience called Carnival Kitchen on the new Carnival Panorama when she launches in December. I have to be honest, I was a bit surprised! Cooking classes are an activity I equate with other cruise lines …like Holland America… not Carnival. But after thinking about it a bit longer I'm now thinking, wow I love that idea!  Why not?

The Carnival Kitchen program will offer more than 15 classes, mostly during sea days. Each class can hold up to 18 guests, and the price will range between $30 and $59. Sample Carnival Kitchen offerings will include:

  • A cake workshop in which you’ll learn about layering, filling, using hand-made fondant and edible decorations.
  • A Pasta Master Class, exploring the art of mixing, rolling and molding fresh dough into unique shapes and pairing them with made-from-scratch sauces.
  • A pizza-making class.  Now that’s Italian!
  • Pie making, which will find the culinary staff sharing some of their best-crust-ever secrets.
  • Carnival Classics Workshop Class with Dinner, which will allow guests to explore signature Carnival dishes such as tuna tartare, saffron risotto and warm chocolate melting cake. So you make it, then eat it!
  •  The Orient Unknown Class with Dinner, which offers the opportunity to learn about the cuisines of Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Guests can reserve classes online pre cruise or they can make their reservations at any restaurant once on board. I know I'll be doing this on my next Carnival cruise!
